I also have the chance to assist on Sunday at the last journey of the Saudi International Golf Tournament won by Graeme McDowell ( -12).

The Kingdom of Saudí Arabia has met the commitment to open the country to visitors and tourist, and golf is an excellent tool to provide a modern image for the country. Saudi Arabia has organised this year several international sports event like the Paris- Dakar Rally, the Spanish Football Super Cup, and in less than a month a Golf Tournament for the European Ladies Tour, no doubt it is a full determination to welcome visitors to Saudi Arabia.

During Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th, Golf Saudi Summit presented under a modern format a full range of panelist and sessions such:

  • Harnessing the power of the game.
  • Unlocking a modern Saudi.
  • Building a new modern ecosystem.
  • New standards & innovation.
  • The future of design.
  • Unveiling the golf Saudi Vision.
  • Why invest in Golf?
  • Creating a legacy in golf.

Some members of the EIGCA, attended the event such as Peter Harradine, Tim Lobb, Stephen Ridgway, and myself also members of the ASGCA, as Robert Trent Jones II (Bobby), Dana Fry, …. and all we have the great chance to discuss first hand with golf legends such as Gary Players and Greg Norman.

On Tuesday afternoon, we played golf at the Royal Gardens Golf Course, a really nice design done by our colleagues at the EGD, that showed an excellent golf tournaments conditions for the big guys, with excellent wall to wall Paspalum grass, while some mortal’s golfer like myself were suffering in the long reseeding cold season grass on rough.

From here, I want to thank again Golf Saudi for the generous Invitation at that excellent organised event. As a golf architect, member of the EIGCA, myself and my colleagues are all more than open to contribute at the development of golf at the Kingdom of the Saudi Arabia.
