Criteria
Member (MEIGCA)
€700 per year (2026-2027 rate)
- a golf course architect practicising to the highest standard with a wide experience of all aspects relating to golf course architecture in Europe, including the design, and supervision of construction to completion, of new courses, as well as renovations or re-modelling of existing courses.
- A Fellow (FEIGCA) is a Member of the former BIGCA who has made a significant contribution to that Institute. No new Fellowships will be granted.
Applicants must provide satisfactory evidence that during a minimum period of four years they have personally designed, and supervised the construction to completion, of new golf courses and/or the renovation of existing golf courses. They must demonstrate a full understanding of golf course design and construction and have experience of working in Europe (graduates of the EIGCA education programme may have gained sufficient equivalent knowledge by working outside of Europe).
Candidate for Membership (CfM)
€250 per year (2026-2027 rate)
- an individual working towards gaining the level of knowledge and experience required to become a Member (MEIGCA) of the Institute.

In March 2017, the membership structure was streamlined to align it to today’s golf course design industry. The categories below were discontinued:
- Associate Member (AEIGCA)
- Graduate

Once your application has been received by EIGCA, it is submitted to the Membership Committee for consideration. This Committee then makes a recommendation to the EIGCA Council. If you are applying to become a member, the Committee may decide to visit two projects you provided details for in your application.
