The new hole 6 of the Real Club Novo de Sancti Petri (Chiclana, Cadiz, Spain) has opened for play after complete remodelling carried out by EIGCA member, Alfonso Vidaor of Green Project. The construction of a new hotel next to hole 6 of the “Mar y Pinos course”, in front of La Barrosa beach, required the complete remodelling of the hole for safety reasons.
The design, project and construction management of the work was carried out by Green Project, and built by GTM.
The work, completed in 71 days, consisted of:
- the realignment of tees
- change of the line of play and landing areas
- displacement of the green
- gross earthwork and fine shaping of the new tees, bunkers, fairway and green complex
- construction of a new irrigation system and drainage
- creation of a new naturalized area of outrough with the planting of pine trees, beach grass native to the area and mulch areas
- grass sodded across the whole hole area

The work has been a success, with design and safety objectives met as well as those of quality of execution and deadline. The timeframe was very tight in order to fit in the construction and sowing out of the periods of tour operation indicated by Real Golf Novo Sancti Petri.
Alfonso Vidaor says: “We want to congratulate and thank all the parties involved in the project, working together to meet the objectives from day one, and collaborating and participating tirelessly in responding to the work and design issues that have arisen during construction.”
