| News
Estimated reading time 3 min
‘To Heath & Links’ will take in four of the greatest links and heathland golf courses in South-east England, designed by some of the greatest names in golf course architecture.
We have attached 2 documents (you can download these at the foot of this message):
• Tour information brochure – giving you full details about the dates, the itinerary, the costs and of course the golf courses to be visited
• Registration form – for you to complete and return to me in order to register for the tour (deadline 31 December)
Selection criteria
We have a very limited number of places and we expect demand to be extremely high. I think you will agree that thanks to TORO’s very generous sponsorship of these tours, and of course our good negotiating skills, the package is excellent value for money.
As a result we expect to be oversubscribed. If we are, then we will use the same formula to the one that we used for the previous tours prioritising EIGCA members who participate most in the Institute’s affairs including the 2015 Annual Meeting in North Berwick.
Once full, we will of course create a waiting list, priority based on the same selection criteria.
Payments
Places will be allocated at the beginning of January and a non-refundable deposit of £200 pp must be paid at that time to secure a confirmed reservation
The balance will be payable by 13th June 2015.
Alwoodley and Moortown option – 11th & 12th September
As well as the Tour around SE England, we would also like to offer you an additional mini-tour to Yorkshire to play the first and second courses designed by the world renowned golf course architect, Dr Alister MacKenzie, in a match against the Alister MacKenzie Society of GB & I.
Those taking part will get to hear about the history of MacKenzie’s early work, and the design of these courses in particular, and the restoration work which has recently been completed at both courses. Old MacKenzie plans, photographs and other memorabilia will also be on display for participants to view. More information about the courses can be found on their websites, Alwoodley GC www.alwoodley.co.uk and Moortown GC wwww.moortown-gc.co.uk
Depending on the number of golfers, we will organise coach or train/air transport from London Heathrow on the morning of Friday 11th September, playing Alwoodley that afternoon and Moortown on the Saturday, with return transport on the Sunday to meet up with everyone else at the Runnymede Hotel.
If you are interested in this optional tour please tick the box on the form and I will contact you with more information.
So please complete and return the attached Registration Form by 31st December 2014 if you wish to register for a place on the 2015 Study Tour ‘To Heath & Links’.
Please note that I will acknowledge receipt of every form that I receive so if you do not get an acknowledgement please try re-sending it until you do.
Best regards
Julia
