A total of 74 volunteers operated the course maintenance fleet of 66 John Deere machines, which included hybrid electric walk-behind greens mowers, PrecisionCut surrounds and fairway mowers, Gator utility vehicles and compact tractors.

Tournament guests, including golf course owners, managers and greenkeepers, were also given a special preview of John Deere’s new 9009A TerrainCut rough mower at the company’s European headquarters in Mannheim. This is the latest addition to the award-winning A Model family of fairway, rough and tees & surrounds mowers, which will be launched in the UK & Ireland at January’s BTME 2015 show in Harrogate.

“With the new 9009A, our widest model yet, you can now maximise both productivity and cut quality from a wide area mower while having more control over how the machine performs in the rough,” says John Deere Limited turf division manager Chris Meacock.

Featuring the established TechControl display, the 55hp 9009A has five 68.6cm (27in) independent rotary mower decks, providing an overall cutting width of 2.7m (9ft). Full details and prices will be available from John Deere dealers in the UK and Ireland from December.
