John Deere’s 2009 Golf Roadshow
John Deere’s 2009 Golf Roadshow drew the crowds, as well as favourable comments from greenkeepers and groundsmen, according to the company’s turf equipment product marketing manager Henry Bredin.
The theme of this autumn’s tour of the UK and Ireland was precision and productivity. This was reflected in demonstrations of the company’s new award-winning Quick Adjust cutting units, hybrid E-Cut mowers and HD200 SelectSpray turf sprayer, and the increasingly popular irrigation range for precision water management on golf courses and other sports and amenity turf areas.
“Customers and other visitors said they appreciated the mix of well organised, informative product presentations and the opportunity to drive and assess the new equipment in working conditions, as well as give us their feedback,” said Henry Bredin.
“In particular, there was a great deal of interest in the new Quick Adjust cutting units, as featured on our new greens, tees, surrounds and fairway mowers. Many people commented that any piece of equipment or machine that makes their job easier and quicker is bound to be a winner.”
Featuring a patented SpeedLink system that is unique in the golf industry, John Deere’s new QuickAdjust (QA) cutting cylinders provide rapid height of cut adjustment from either side of the units. This new technology effectively allows the reels on an entire machinery fleet to be set in the time it previously took to adjust the height of cut on just one mower.

Perrot supplies Golf Club Föhr with irrigation system
Beginning of 2006 Golf Club Föhr decided to extend the existing 18 hole golf course by another 9 holes – a venturous investment into the future. In collaboration with Städler Golfdesign they created a links course with the charms of heathlands. The subsequent building contract had been given to European Golf Service from Ireland.
Golf Club Föhr chose to go for irrigation technique from Perrot which had already proven its worth on the existing course. In the course of this extension the control system had also been brought up to the latest standards.
The decoder control system “Perrot Satellite” is a web-based program providing remote access via PDA which can also be used for maintenance purposes.
The controller program smoothly operates 500 stations at Föhr, it could, however, be extended to up to 2000 stations at any time. Perrot’s state-of-the-art gear drive sprinklers, as well as their well-proven solenoid valves made of red brass were installed at Föhr. By the sole use of high-quality materials Perrot is even able to grant a 5-year warranty on these products.
We are convinced that Golf Club Föhr set the right course for a bright future of the new 27-hole golf course. The new golf links were inaugurated on July 18th, 2009.
