Planning application submitted for the Yorkshire@Rossington Hall, Doncaster

As David explains .. “Although we have been working on this project for the last three or four years, in fact, Neil Coles and I first visited the site with the current clients over 25 years ago when the project was first mooted. The overall development now consists of an 18 hole, 7500 yard long Par 72 Championship course, a shorter 2400 yard Par 34 nine hole course, three Academy holes, full length practice ground/driving range, and a short game practice area”.

As well as the usual clubhouse and associated facilities, the development also contains 90 acres of housing, the majority of which is designed to overlook the fairways of the Championship course.

David continues .. “It is a magnificent site on good sandy soil, with rolling contours and with magnificent copses of mature trees throughout the site, as well as many fine individual specimens. The site however is also crossed by a multitude of very well-used public footpaths, all shown on the Definitive Footpath Map and well used by the local residents taking advantage of the existing magnificent landscape and scenery”.

David adds.. “Avoiding these footpaths and their associated safety margins has been a major challenge in the design process, but we are extremely pleased that we have been able to achieve the client’s brief in both golfing and housing terms and still retain the safe use of all the Designated footpaths for the many thousands of walkers who use them regularly”.

The development is for Rossington Hall Developments Ltd. who have brought on board European Tour Developments and Troon Golf to assist in the marketing and eventual running of the golf development. The development is fully supported by Doncaster Council, with their Mayor stating that this is a development which is to be welcomed in Doncaster and, as well as providing much needed aspirational housing in the area, will also will help put the area fully on the golfing map.

A decision on the planning application is expected later this summer.
