Mr Tom Marzolf

Tom Marzolf has been a Member of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects (EIGCA) since 2017. 

Tom also is a member of The American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) since 1990, and served as President from 2005-2006, and the President of the ASGCA Foundation in 2025-2026.. 

Tom graduated from Virginia Tech in 1982, Cum Laude with a bachelor’s in landscape architecture- BLAR, which involved the production of – a Thesis on Golf Course Design and Construction. He also attained a Minor in Art and Art History and subsequently became a Registered Landscape Architect in the State of North Carolina and an ASLA Member (also in the South Carolina and North Carolina ASLA Chapters). 

Tom has worked for Tom Fazio and Fazio Design since 1983 as a Senior Design Consultant, contributing on over 95 New Golf Courses and Renovating and restoring many existing Courses. A specialty of Tom’s is helping existing Golf Course prepare Long Range Master Plans, and helping prepare a Course for USGA Championships, PGA Tour Events, PGA of America Championships.

Tom is currently completing work at Adare Manor in County Limerick, Ireland where the site is being prepared for 65,000 spectators for the 2027 Ryder Cup.  Tom has worked closely with input from The European Tour which oversees the Ryder Cup when this event is played in Europe. Tees are being adjusted for this match play event and the spaces adjacent to the holes are being prepared for spectator viewing and hospitality structures. Circulation corridors, pathways and crosswalks are also being addressed.  

In 2026, Tom’s project underway for construction include: 

•  The Club at Mediterra – South Course – major renovation (Naples, Florida). New greens are under construction, and a new Bunker style will be reshaped into each hole, improving the course strategy.
•  Atlanta, Georgia, Tom is redesigning The Capitol City Club – Crabapple Renovation, a course the firm built originally in 2002. This course will feature undulating new greens with adjacent Australian style bunkers, 
• The NAPLES BEACH CLUB, A Four Seasons new golf course that will open in December 2026
• Thornblade Club, Greer, South Carolina – Tom will be helping to convert the greens from Bent Grass to TIF EAGLE Bermuda grass , along with designing a new putting course at the first and tenth tees, and expanding the greens on Holes 4,6 and 12. 

In 2025, Tom completed  work at Interlachen CC in Orlando, Florida rebuilding this existing course to a new design with modifications to the routing. 

Also in 2025, Tom designed the Royal Poinciana GC – Pines Course in Naples, Florida to a new style with larger greens, Augusta style bunkers, . 

 In August 2025, Tom  began a major renovation of the Crabapple Course at The Capital City Club just north of Atlanta, Georgia. which will be completed in the fall of 2026.

In 2020, Tom oversaw the renovation of the Seth Raynor-designed championship layout at Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh, which has been featured in various publications:

The Marzolf Family has been in the Golf Business for 4 generations – since 1905! 

• Tom’s Great Grandfather, Edward Marzolf, was the golf course superintendent for the 1912 US OPEN and the 1921 US Amateur
• Tom’s Grandfather, Francis Marzolf,  was a PGA Golf professional and past president of the Southern Ohio PGA Section and a Golf Club Designer for Burke Golf and MacGregor Golf
• Tom’s Father, Francis Marzolf Jr.,  played collegiate golf for Notre Dame
• Tom’s Mother, Rita Favret Marzolf, played golf on the Ladies Team for Ohio State University
