Luigi Rota Caremoli was a member of EIGCA until he retired in 2014.
Born in Italy in 1945, Luigi studied agronomics and graduated in Geological-Topographical Science and Building from Marconi University in Rome. He has been involved in golf professionally since 1962, serving as Manager for over 20 years at the renowned ‘Villa d’Este’ and working in golf course construction and maintenance.
From 1983, he was a prominent golf course designer in his own company, Golf and Gardens, which was part of an engineering team covering all aspects of architecture. His design philosophy emphasised the conservation of the natural landscape of each site while considering golf strategy, costs, and maintainability. This approach is rooted in the history of golf architecture and was enriched by his lifelong experience in golf development. Luigi completed over 30 projects in Italy, France, and the Caribbean, all held to a high standard of golf course architecture.
