Born in 1957 in the Belgian Congo, Bruno Steensels holds a master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Architecture in Ghent, Belgium (1979-84).

He joined the education program of BIGCA in 1991 as a student member, later becoming an Associate in 1995 and a Member in 1999. Bruno has been playing golf for over 30 years and remains a scratch player.

Bruno has been actively involved in golf course architecture since 1987 and has been freelancing since 1992, completing more than 60 assignments across Europe. He has now consolidated all these activities into a new company, MasterGolf BVBA, focusing on golf course architecture, design, and consultancy.

Additionally, Bruno gained experience in golf management as a board member (1993-2001) of ‘Limburg Golf & Country Club’ in Houthalen (Belgium).

His architectural approach is generally based on “strategic” golf course design, always aiming for harmony with the existing natural surroundings.

Bruno’s golf courses are designed to cater to golfers of all skill levels, from professional players to beginners. His designs provide a complete challenge and leave players eager to return. Bruno believes that a golf course architect should not only understand ‘Golf Course Architecture’ but also be aware of the ‘market’. Starting with the clients’ objectives, he develops differentiated and aesthetically pleasing designs that consider architectural, ecological, and landscape values, as well as the technical aspects of the game.

Each design by MasterGolf is a synthesis of creative, managerial, technical, and financial aspects, executed to the highest standards and recognized internationally.
