Luton Hoo looks for Ryder Cup glory

Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf and Spa is set for a major £170 million transformation as it prepares to compete for the honor of hosting the Ryder Cup in 2035. The resort will close for around two and a half years while the renovation is underway by owners Arora Group.
The golf course redesign brings together some of the sport’s most experienced hands. Justin Rose, a seven-time Ryder Cup player for Europe, and legendary golfer Gary Player are advising on the project and looking to create what Arora Group chairman, Surinder Arora, calls “the Augusta of Europe.”
European Golf Design, behind previous Ryder Cup venues including Marco Simone in Rome (2023), Le Golf National near Paris (2018), and Celtic Manor (2010) is leading the course layout. Construction is being handled by EIGCA Bronze Partner Atlantic Golf Construction, builders of Adare Manor, the 2027 Ryder Cup venue.
EIGCA President, Gary Johnston of European Golf Design (EGD), said: “EGD is partly owned by the European Tour, so we know exactly what is needed for a championship golf course. Luton Hoo is a truly special landscape, and we will be working with some of the features Capability Brown created. Designing a golf course here is beyond your wildest dreams, and it is conceivable that the venue could host a Ryder Cup in 10 years’ time. This site has the space, the access, and everything else you would need.”
Luton Hoo is positioning itself as one of Europe’s premier golfing destinations.
