Irrigation System Installation at Imlauer Schloss Pichlarn by All Golf Services

In March 2024, EIGCA Silver Partner, All Golf Services, began work on a state-of-the-art irrigation system at the prestigious Imlauer Schloss Pichlarn, a 5-star resort located in the foothills of the Austrian Alps. This luxury resort, known for its high standards, is undergoing a major renovation of its golf course, including the addition of a new short game area. While the entire course is being upgraded, our specific role was to install a cutting-edge irrigation system across all 18 holes and new short game area as part of these improvements.

The redesign of the golf course is being overseen by Olazabal Design, with Anton Ortner as the lead architect. TAS with agronomist Carlos Arroyal are collaborating with the design team, sharing a mission to elevate the course to a new standard of quality.

The irrigation system, which we installed, was specifically designed by EIGCA Associate, Giles Wardle of Irriplan. His design and multiple site visits ensured the system’s flawless implementation.

Before the installation of the new system, the course was equipped with a simpler irrigation setup that lacked automatic control and relied on quick couplers. The new system, developed in collaboration with EIGCA Gold Partner Rain Bird, and Pipe Life Austria, incorporates advanced Rain Bird products, including the IC System and the CirrusPRO Central Control System to ensure precise and efficient water management.

Due to the course’s varied topography, the system required two separate pumping stations. One station, designed for the elevated holes, operates at higher pressure, while the second covers the lower-elevation holes. Both of these pumping stations were designed and constructed by Östorps, with the design carried out by Peter Johansson, and they are controlled by the SMART pump control system, ensuring optimal efficiency and performance.

Additionally, a third independent water source was integrated to serve the short game area and driving range, all controlled centrally through the CirrusPRO Central Control System.

Our work faced challenges, as the course remained open for play during construction, requiring us to stop for tournaments and ensure our work remained out of sight during weekends. However, thanks to the excellent cooperation with the resort management, particularly Christian Seiringer, the Castle, Estate and Golf Manager, we successfully navigated these challenges.

We completed the irrigation installation on the 18 holes in July, followed by the short game area in August. In September, Giles Wardle conducted a final site visit, and any remaining work will be continued in the spring. We are excited to see how the new irrigation system will enhance the quality of play and overall experience for golfers at Imlauer Schloss Pichlarn as part of this major renovation project.
