In Memoriam – Reinhold Weishaupt MEIGCA (Retd)

It is with great sadness that the European Institute of Golf Course Architects marks the passing of Reinhold Weishaupt, a distinguished member of the profession and a valued member of the EIGCA until his retirement in 2011.

Reinhold studied landscape architecture and worked in different European countries in landscape planning, after his studies. He was inspired to design golf courses through his experiences playing golf and his study tours to Scotland and the USA.

His work was based in Southern Germany near Stuttgart, where most of his golf courses were created.

One notable project he collaborated on was the golf course Schwanhof, designed together with former US Open winner Jerry Pate, which ranks among the top ten golf courses in Germany.
