Collaborating with good friend of the EIGCA, Chris Bertram on this milestone Golf World 100, the listing is a testament to the golf courses throughout Europe that strive to practice sustainability and have it at the forefront of their long-term and short-term plans.
It was important for us to recognise clubs that are the most active in terms of sustainability and to show that it does not take grand gestures and bold statements to be sustainable, rather it takes small changes to everyday tasks. For more on how this list was put together – read more here.
Addressing golfers directly, GEO’s CEO Jonathan Smith, said: “To protect our sport we all need to embrace sustainability, and in some ways scale and accelerate our efforts. Your expectations, particularly relating to “perfect” year-round playing surfaces and how the golfing landscape is managed, matter. Your opinions expressed either casually in the clubhouse, or to committee members and staff, matter. What you say about the game’s responsibility and value to friends, family and others in the local community, matters.”
The matter of sustainability runs throughout golf, as you all well know, and every person has their part to play in helping take our game to the next level. It is our hope that this publication can and will raise awareness, educate, and guide golfers and the industry towards a more sustainable future. Stimulating conversation about how we can improve and installing pride in the improvements we have made.
We are proud of this publication and proud to work alongside EIGCA to create a more sustainable future for golf – @EIGCA Members, how many of your clients are on the list?
