EIGCA introduces a task-oriented approach to drive progress

EIGCA has introduced a task-oriented approach to projects designed to help move the Institute forward more dynamically and effectively.

Rather than relying solely on the traditional committee structure, project-based Task Forces will be formed to tackle specific initiatives. This structure allows EIGCA to draw on the skills, knowledge, and experience of members, partners, affiliates and patrons.

By operating outside the constraints of fixed committees, these Task Forces enable greater flexibility and responsiveness — particularly when projects fall outside the remit of existing committees. This approach encourages collaboration across the EIGCA community and ensures the Institute can make the most of the diverse expertise within its network.

Exploring the use of AI in Golf Course Design

One of the first Task Forces is led by Member Jeff Danner, to explore how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be applied to golf course design. The group includes several EIGCA members who are assessing the benefits, potential downsides, and best practices for using AI tools in design processes.

Call for Partner Representatives

To make this work as comprehensive and relevant as possible, we are now inviting contributions from EIGCA Partners.

Jeff asks: “We are seeking representatives from our Partner network to join this Task Force. Ideally, you — or your company — are already using AI in your work. Your role would be to contribute insights and experience to help shape a guidance document that will inform and advise the EIGCA members on best practices for using AI in golf course design.

“This is a light time commitment in an advisory capacity, offering a chance to influence how the profession engages with emerging technology and to share your expertise with the wider golf design community.
