The unveiling of San Roque Club in Sotogrande, Spain recently was another chapter in the growing list success stories for Profile, alongside key EIGCA partner organizations.
The San Roque Club closed for project work early in 2020 and re-opened in November, following a full renovation of the 18-hole course. The project was led by EIGCA partners Turfgrass Consultancy (project agronomist) and contractor Atlantic Golf Construction (project contractor).
“We have had the good fortune to work with these project partners a number of times, and there is a high level of confidence and trust with one another,” noted Gavin Kelly, sales manager for Profile Products. “They know that our products contribute to reliable performance in grass establishment and easier long-term management of greens.”
After testing at a USGA accredited lab, Profile Porous Ceramic was selected as the rootzone amendment to allow for deeper rooting, along with increased drainage, nutrient retention, and better water management in comparison to peat. The stability of Profile Porous Ceramic results in greens that will provide exceptional playability for many years.
Profile Porous Ceramic was blended with sand to form a 90/10 mix on tees and greens alike. After the rootzone was installed, Pure Select bentgrass was seeded to the greens, and established heartily within 6 weeks of installation, allowing the course re-opening to remain on schedule.
“San Roque Club has been named as one of the Top 100 Golf Courses of Spain,” noted Kelly. “We have a growing list of projects with that kind of distinction in the region and around the world, which is a testament to the terrific project partners we have out there that work with us time and time again.”
