EIGCA at the FEGGA Conference

Held in beautiful Cascais, just outside Lisbon, Portugal, our Vice President, Caspar Grauballe, attended two days of seminars. Some respite from the fairly intense schedule was a 10km bike trip down to the coast for lunch!

As some of our Partners are also FEGGA Patrons, it gave Caspar an opportunity to catch up with them ahead of our Annual Meeting in Turkey in April.

There are many crossovers in areas of interest between architects and the members of FEGGA, and Caspar was particularly interested in the debate on pesticides and the upcoming EU regulation which looks to be creating further restrictions. As architects, we have an opportunity to provide help on design and re-design of courses with an emphasis on designing to achieve the best possible grass growing conditions. This feeds into the work we are already doing and advancing on sustainability education for our members and becoming leaders on sustainability in golf course design.

Attending the FEGGA conference comes on the back of EIGCA’s presence at BIGGA’s BTME in January, our President, Tim Lobb attending the SAGCA Annual Meeting in Tasmania last November, and Tim and Caspar attending the ASGCA Annual Meeting in Rhode Island last October. Greater visibility of the Institute and supporting affiliated organisations is making a positive difference in how the EIGCA is perceived and strengthens our leadership role in the global golf course design profession.
