Crownwood Club – a new private members club in south of Sweden

After being planned for many years, construction has finally begun on what will be a unique high-end golf club in the southern part of Sweden. An 18-hole members’ course together with an 11-hole course open for outside play. The golf facilities will be designed by 2021 Golf Designer of the Year awarded by Golf Awards – Henrik Stenson Golf Design.

2016 Champion Golfer of the Year, Henrik Stenson, together with his design partner, EIGCA Member, Christian Lundin, and golf investor Arild Karlsen from Norway are the three people behind the Crownwood Club project.

Christian Lundin, Principal Golf Course Architect, about the potential of the site: It is now more than 10 years ago since I first set foot on the property. It is a wonderful site with pine trees and pure sand as deep as you can dig. Together with the coastal location it has all the ingredients of a great golf course. It can truly become one of the best golf experiences in Europe!”

Henrik, Christian and Arild have seen a lot of great golf courses around the world. This will be their chance to create their own club on home turf.

Plans include a Clubhouse area to welcome members and guests with a full service facility. This includes a golf fitted gym, a smaller scale spa with saunas and pools as well as an open-office environment to enable members to work “home away from home”. Construction of the golf course has started and plans are to open in 2025.

Henrik Stenson, explaining why this is another highlight of his career: ”Its such a one of a kind opportunity to be able to add all our experiences from a life in the golf industry and create our own facility. I am so proud of what my team and I are trying to achieve and the type of golf courses we will create. It will be unique to this part of the world and it feels great to be able to do this for golf in Sweden. I’m eagerly looking forward to the opening in 2025.”
