Bronze Partner Profile Products completes first phase of renovation at Golf Club de Geneve

Sod is being harvested from existing greens since the beginning of September, a process that was followed by the installation of a rootzone blend of Sand and Profile Porous Ceramics, creating a mix that has resulted in terrific grow-in and firmness for the new greens.

The mix was specifically chosen after sand samples were sent from two different quarries and tested at a USGA lab. Recommendations were made to include Profile Porous Ceramics – Greens Grade, manufactured by Profile Products, in both the greens and tee mix. This rootzone design would provide an optimum long-term balance of air and water-holding pore space, improved nutrient retention and better stability. The blend chosen was 85:15. Profile’s W. European Manager, visited the preferred sand quarry in August to advise on mixing rates for tees and greens. Nearly 500 tons of material was mixed at the quarry and then delivered to the golf club and stored on a clean hard surface.

The design work on the project is being carried out by Bruce Charlton of Robert Trent Jones Jr. EIGCA Consultant Partner Jim Ferguson has served as the project manager overseeing the renovation, which is being completed by EIGCA Bronze Partner SOL Golf Construction Ltd.

This was the first of two phases, the second of which will be completed in 2016/2017.
