Golf Information News, Vol 7, No 9, November 2010

In this issue I have included reports about the R&A Environment Booklet on The Old Course and a STERF report on Integrated Pest Management. The R&A Guide to Wildlife on The Old Course

R&A Environment Bppklet

For the past four years the R&A has produced a guide to wildlife on the Open Championship course. This year's publication is on the environmental management of the Links on The Old Course at St Andrews.
Produced by The R&A, the publication was developed by the Scottish Golf Environment Group, with information supplied by St Andrews Links Trust and Fife Coast & Countryside Trust. Funding support was provided by the Scottish Golf Union, Scottish Natural Heritage and Lexus.

Social Links: the Golf Boom in Victorian England

Social Links cover

Author, Donald Cameron, has donated a copy of his book, Social Links: the Golf Boom in Victorian England, to the Library.
The British Golf Collectors Society have selected this book as the winner of the Society's Murdoch Medal for 2010. The Murdoch Medal is the Society's most prestigious award and is made in recognition of a 'contribution to the heritage of golf'.

European Golf Union Statistics

New statistics published the EGA show that golf is continuing its growth across the continent. But the stats make less happy reading for the British Isles, where the severe fall-off in interest seen in the past four years is continuing.
