Golf Information News, Vol 7, No 7, September 2010

Welcome to the latest issue of Golf Information News!
The weather here in Surrey has been dismal throughout August. I hope it has been better where you are and that you have enjoyed your summer break.
In this issue I have reviewed a new guide to golf courses which we have received and taken a look at a new website from Golf Management Europe.

The Rolex World’s Top 1000 Golf Courses, by D’Algue Selection

Rolex World's Top 1000 Golf Courses

We have received a copy of this guide to the world's top 1000 golf courses. It is a very nicely presented book, with a page for each golf course, arranged geographically. There is lots of information about each course, including a map and how to find it, contact details, fees and restrictions and - most importantly for us - the name of the architect. It also includes nearby hotels, restaurants and other places of interest, so that you can plan your visit. It is a most useful addition to the Library as it is the only guide with a worldwide coverage, others that we hold are restricted to Europe or individual countries.

Rolex World's Top 1000 Golf Courses

KPMG’s Golf Advisory Practice has published its Golf Travel Insights 2010 survey revealing more than half of golf tour operators have experienced an increase in customers booking golf holidays with them in 2010.
In total, 54% of the 120 golf tour operators surveyed said there had been a noticeable increase in demand (the last time the survey was undertaken, in 2008, this figure was 73%), while 38% had experienced a decrease (up from 10% in 2008).
