We also continue with our series of Member Profiles with Q&As with Augie Pizá and Matt Schiffer, both of whom studied for the Masters Degree in Golf Course Architecture at Edinburgh University, which was accredited by EIGCA.

EIGCA News

We are pleased to announce that the British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association (BIGGA) has become a Patron of the EIGCA.

During October our students attended the fourth workshop of their Vocational Course to look at the site for their Main Design Project, which they will present to the markers next spring, prior to the Annual Meeting. This brings us to the subject of the Annual Meeting which will be held in Bruges, Belgium during the week of April 23rd.

Members News

One of our members is winning awards for his course in Bohemia, another has enjoyed repeated trips to Switzerland – building a ‘fun’ practice green at Golfpark Holzhäusern, and repairing the damage caused by floods and landslides at Golf Club Engelberg. We also have news of a collaboration between a Member and several Partners in building a new course at the Royal Norwich.

The R&A and USGA have receive extensive feedback in their global programme to Modernise the Rules of Golf and GEO have published a New Standard for Sustainable Golf Tournaments.

Our Gold Partner Toro reports on its Lynx® Smart Hub, which offers a new cost-saving field control option. And our Silver Partner John Deere has signed an agreement with Gleneagles to supply golf course maintenance equipment and related technology to its three championship golf courses.

Resource Centre News

The Library has added several new publications to its collection: a biography of the Australian architect, Alex Russell, by Neil Crafter; an interesting History of Golf, by Roger McStravick; and a Global Introduction to Golf Business and Management, edited by Tim Breitbarth, Sebastian Kaiser-Jovy and Geoff Dickson. We have added the latest KPMG Golf participation report for Europe 2017 and the European Golf Statistics 2017 from EGCOA. You can also catch up with Some Articles you may have missed in the golfing press.

The EIGCA Library has over 1500 books and journals, most of which are available to borrow. The Librarian can help you with any research you may need using materials in the collection or by online searching.
