The Torrey Pines Golf Course is one of the most famous golf courses in the United States. It hosts the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour every year and will once again host the US Open in 2021 (in the South Course).
The irrigation system on the North Course was renovated in 2016 using HDPE pipe, metal isolation valves, and compression fittings.
However, for the renovation of the South Course in 2019, the irrigation system was designed using AquaFuse (www.aqua-fuse.com) products: HDPE mainline and lateral piping, proprietary HDPE isolation valves, and special HDPE fused fittings. An AquaFuse fused irrigation piping system will have a zero leakage rate at all the heat fused connections. In addition, the AquaFuse HDPE components carry a 25-year warranty.
The sprinklers and controllers were supplied by EIGCA Gold Partner The Toro Company and the AquaFuse irrigation piping system by Bronze Partner CMF Global. Tom Works, Vice President of Irrigation at Landscapes Unlimited, who installed the system, stated:
“When accounting for complete lifecycle costs, an HDPE system when expertly designed and installed is a tremendous long-term solution for the client. Presently we are aligned with CMF Global and their AquaFuse products on an extremely challenging renovation of Torrey Pines South Golf Course. Throughout the preplanning, irrigation design, submittal process and installation CMF Global has been instrumental with their knowledge and training”.
