A tribute to Perry Dye

Perry Dye ASGCA died on 8th July 2021.

A golf course architect from the Dye family dynasty, Perry is remembered fondly by EIGCA member, Marco Martin MEIGCA in this tribute:

“Perry Dye is one of the great golf course architects. He was a big man with a huge heart, full of generosity for all the people around him. Perry was always a positive person and he made everything BIG:

  • Big in building great golf courses on the most difficult sites
  • Big in the company he created – Dye Designs – where he made many people feel part of his family
  • Big in generosity inviting people to golf shows or the most fun parties. I remember “Lord Lordy Who is 40” on his T-shirt for his 40th birthday party in the mountains of Colorado

“Thank you Perry for being the greatest teacher, for sharing ideas and your thoughts with so many. Thanks to you, there are dozens of golf course architects designing and building golf courses all over the world."

“You will always be in my memories.”

EIGCA admires the extensive portfolio of golf courses Perry designed – more than 80 across 15 countries – and on behalf of our members, we express our deepest sympathies to Perry’s family.
