Ken Moodie MEIGCA works with EIGCA Bronze Partner Golfgraffix at Headingley Golf Club

EIGCA Member and Past President Ken Moodie, of Creative Golf Design Ltd, was commissioned by Headingley Golf Club, in May 2019, to redesign its large practice ground and to create an enlarged small practice area near the clubhouse for golfers to warm up on prior to play.

The project has recently been submitted for planning permission and should be determined by February 2020, with the plan to start work next year. A key aspect of the project was the plan to import in excess of 250,000m3 of subsoil from nearby construction projects, in order to correct the cross-falls of the original land and shape the practice grounds with containing mounding and target greens.

The royalty payment which will be paid for the disposal of the soil should cover the construction costs of the practice grounds, at no expense to the Club. Ken worked with EIGCA Industry Bronze Partner, Golfgraffix, to produce computer-generated images and video from the contour plans he produced to show how the changes would look in reality. These help to show members of the golf club what they can look forward to and will provide a very useful tool in the planning process.
