Dirk graduated with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture at the Horticulture Institute in Vilvoorde, Belgium, and completed the Winter School for Turf Management at the University of Massachusetts.

In 1991, Dirk began to work for Nicklaus Design, the globally acclaimed design firm founded by golf legend Jack Nicklaus, as a Design Coordinator. He was based in many countries all over the world, while developing his craft.

Using his experience, Dirk returned to Europe with his family and became a Design Associate, serving as the lead designer on a number of projects across the continent. Dirk has been serving as a Senior Design Associate since 2002 and today, he oversees the European Office for Nicklaus Design and carries on its philosophy of working closely with clients, enhancing the natural environment, and creating courses that are both challenging and enjoyable for players of all levels.
