The project started as an appointment for designing additional 9 holes to the existing 9 hole course on a sunny but very sloping area in the southern Alps, with about 170 metres level difference. If it hadn't been for the nice and functional clubhouse, we would have searched another site. Through different studies and alternative routings the architect convinced the client of the necessity of a total redesign, in order to get an integrated new 18 hole golf course. The result was a 5.755 metre par71 with a kind of serpentine routing, a deep downhill par3, seven lakes and strategic bunkering; the success of this modern Alpine golf course was assisted by a 5*Golf Hotel and opened in 2009.
Using the huge pressure guaranteed through high mountain water storage, the irrigation system is very sustainable, since it works with four hydrostatic pressure rings without any pumps or energy supply.
