The main purposes of the document are to define the scope of our profession’s unique relationship with the environment, to highlight the positive contribution golf courses can make to the environment and society, to emphasise our recognition of the importance of environmental sustainability within golf course development, and to state our commitment to working in partnership with other relevant industry bodies.

The policy is in three parts:
The core statement consists of a broad philosophy and five key principles, together setting out our position on the environmental aspects of golf course design.
Gives brief introductions to six key issues which have influenced development of the policy, stating our views on how we feel they should be addressed.
Sets out our proposals to continue to develop and refine our environmental standpoint; covering the areas of new development guidance, case studies, education, and communication.
